PHOTOFACIALS

Sun exposure is one of the main causes of premature aging and skin damage. No matter how hard you try to protect yourself from sunburn and sun damage, it’s almost impossible to avoid the effects of the sun entirely. A Photofacial is specifically designed to reverse these effects, as well as treat skin conditions like rosacea, flushing and broken capillaries therefore making the skin appear younger and fresh.

HOW DOES A PHOTOFACIAL WORK

A Photofacial works by using intense pulsed light, to destroy the pigment in unwanted lesions or flushing of the skin. The intense pulsed light is directly applied to your skin and absorbed by pigment such as freckles, sun spots, redness from sun damage, uneven skin tone and even vascular lesions. The energy from this light causes these markings to gently fade away.

YOUR PHOTOFACIAL PROCEDURE

Prior to your Photofacial, your Practitioner will recommend a pre-treatment facial which allows us to clean, prepare and numb the skin for your procedure. During your Photofacial, you’ll be asked to wear a pair of protective glasses while your Practitioner passes a handpiece over your skin. The handpiece will emit pulses of light, which may feel like slight tingles or the snap of a rubber band. The procedure usually takes around 30 minutes to complete, making it easy to fit into your schedule.

BEFORE YOUR PHOTOFACIAL

Before getting your photofacial, you’ll have a consultation with one of our Practitioners During your consultation, you can discuss your reasons for considering a Photofacial and learn more about what to expect from the procedure. Photofacials are typically performed on the face, neck or décolletage, but they can also be performed on the backs of the hands, shoulders or another part of the body. Depending on your needs, your Practitioner may also recommend other treatments to help improve the quality of your complexion. For instance vein removal treatments can minimize or remove spider veins on the legs or other parts of the body, while laser skin re-surfacing will also help tone and tighten the skin.

RECOVERY & RESULTS

Right after your appointment, you may develop some temporary bruising or swelling. If you’re off to an important event or meeting, bring along your makeup bag so you can cover up any redness that could result from the injections.

You should notice your results developing over the following days and week. Your skin should appear smoother and younger with less wrinkling. People may notice that you look refreshed well-rested, but you should never appear frozen or overly “done.”
