Laser Skin Resurfacing
Decreased production of collagen and elastin is a major characteristic of aging skin, which can contribute to a number of aesthetic concerns. By stimulating cell regeneration and the production of important proteins from deep within the dermis, including collagen and elastin, laser skin resurfacing can help heal prominent scarring, smooth your skin’s surface and bring back a healthy glow.
HOW DOES LASER SKIN RESURFACING WORK
Laser skin resurfacing works by gently heating the underlying layers of skin to stimulate the natural healing cycle of the dermis. This means your skin and the underlying tissue will start to generate new, healthy cells, healing damaged or scarred skin and producing plenty of healthy proteins.
YOUR LASER SKIN RESURFACING PROCEDURE
Prior to your Laser Skin Resurfacing, your Practitioner will recommend a pre-treatment facial which allows us to clean, prepare and numb the skin for your procedure. Once you’re ready for treatment, your Practitioner will pass a handheld device over your skin, which will emit laser energy to various depths in the dermis. You will likely feel a warming sensation, but most people don’t find the procedure itself to be painful.
BEFORE YOUR LASER SKIN RESURFACING TREATMENT
Prior to starting your laser skin resurfacing treatments, you’ll have a private consultation with one of our Practitioners During this time, you can talk about your goals for facial rejuvenation and learn more about the kinds of results you can expect.
While most people have laser resurfacing performed on their face, you can ask about other areas you might like to have rejuvenated, such as the décolletage or hands.
Your Practitioner might also recommend some additional treatments for reaching your appearance goals.
YOUR RECOVERY & RESULTS
Laser skin resurfacing doesn’t require downtime, but you can expect your face to appear red and puffy for the first few days after your treatment. You should also stay out of direct sun exposure, as your skin will be hypersensitive to any environmental damage while you heal.
Your results should develop gradually over the coming weeks and months. You should notice your skin appearing more even-toned, with a smoother and firmer texture.
You will notice a significant decrease in fine lines and wrinkles, scarring and hyperpigmentation. Most people schedule a series of 3 to 5 laser resurfacing treatments spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart.
